NSW households and climate change

Why do households need to adapt?

Changes in climate are affecting every aspect of our environment, which impacts all households in NSW. Increases in temperature, and changes to storm and rainfall patterns, will affect the comfort and liveability of homes across NSW. Rising sea levels will affect homes on our coasts and estuaries, and increased fire weather will impact homes across the state.

Households can adapt to these impacts to make sure they stay safe and comfortable. Households can also help to limit the level of climate change by reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and living more sustainably.

The actions we take right now will determine the way we and future generations live. Household adaptation helps NSW become more resilient to a changing climate, and reduces the impacts of climate change on the people, places and things we value.
