About climate change
in NSW

The climate of New South Wales is changing. Average temperatures have been steadily rising since the 1960s. The decade from 2008 to 2017 was the hottest on record, while 2017 was the hottest year in NSW. Climate change will increasingly affect the environment and society in every part of the state.

We develop information and tools to help government, businesses and communities build resilience in the face of future extreme events and hazards, helping them understand and minimise the impacts of climate change. We also promote energy efficiency and renewable energy alternatives.
